Lor — Conversation Editor

The format

A line with no choices is tapped through; a line with choices waits, and may offer at most three replies — the screen is a 2×2 grid of buttons and the fourth one is always the leave button, bottom right, so no conversation needs a “goodbye” choice of its own; a single line may give that button its own word with [bye No]. A reply the player cannot take is not shown — guard it with [if …] and offer them another one; there is no dimming. Everything is checked as you type — a conversation that does not compile is never published, and the last good one keeps running.

The header

# witch the character id, and the file's name
exit: Hmph. | Off with you. one of these when you walk away
bye: Bye the word on the leave button (optional)

[characters]
witch: The Witch (left, #d4548c)
  portrait: model:witch
you: {player} (right, #f0b429)

--- the header stops here

Lines, choices and labels

@offer a label — and this node's name for ever
[random] one of the blocks is picked
The Witch: Ha ha ha.
[or]
The Witch: Hee hee hee.
[/random]

The Witch: Would you like a familiar?
  > Yes please. [set witch.yes] a choice (indent 2), with an effect
The Witch: Then bring me five {n:48}. its body (indent 4)
END END, -> @label, or just stop
  > [if knows:make-life] I know it already
    -> @offer
three at most — Bye is the fourth button

The Witch: Have you brought them? [bye No] this line's word on the leave button
  > What was it again?

[if witch.yes -> @waiting] a jump; falls through when false
-> @offer                         a jump with no condition

What it can ask about

`facts.collected:27 >= 3`	ever collected three Life Seeds — whatever they hold now
`has:48 >= 5`	holding five Mud right now
`knows:make-life`	they own that spell
`spells >= 5`	they own five or more spells
`visited:wizard-battle-pit`	they have ever stood in that Area
`witch.familiar_yes`	a flag this conversation set (`_.key` is world scope)
`facts.talked:witch`	how many times they have talked to her
`here.area = village-of-lor`	where they are standing

Join them with and, or, not and brackets; compare with = != < <= > >=.

What it can do

`[set witch.yes]`	remembers something (also `[set k = "frog"]`)
`[unset witch.yes]`	forgets it
`[add witch.visits 1]`	counts something
`[give 27 x1]`	puts an item in their bag
`[take 48 x5 else @short]`	takes them, all or nothing
`[teach make-life]`	they own that spell from now on

Effects go at the end of a spoken line, on a line of their own, or at the end of a reply. In the words: {player} is their name, {n:27} an element's name, {count has:48} a number.
