Kris, 23 October: “I have decided that offline play will be completely different (I’m actually going to copy the Chrome offline game) … it will be your character, in a permanent run, and a touch to the screen does the jump, and bush and small tree items will come past … the same game as the Chrome game, but a side view and using all our existing 3D models.”

Round 1 had the night sky, a striped road and a far row of trees. Kris: “great first brush” — and then “simpler and closer to the dinosaur game”: Chrome’s grey, the play kept an eighth in, one cell of the real grass over the cliff, a lower jump, uneven gaps, a bigger way back.

Round 2. Kris: “that was excellent. I’m really, really happy with that” — and four more: a round bush with a tree behind it now and then; Chrome’s night, on Chrome’s own clock; the way back sooner; and the dragon hitting before it touched (his three screenshots). The night comes from Chrome’s source — every 700 points, twelve seconds, a 1.5 s fade.

Round 3 found why the way back never came on his phone: in the second after aeroplane mode went off, Telstra’s mobile network was up and Wi-Fi was not, and the game remembered the mobile-only address for the realm forever. A failed look now forgets it. Kris: “Yep. That’s done it.”

The Area “Connection” property went the same day — nothing ever acted on it, and offline play is this now. The offline home deliverable #11 once promised is withdrawn there, dated.
