The World
Lor is made of areas — a village, a home, an arena, a desert — and you never walk from one into another. You step through a portal. So the world is a shape: a rectangle for each place, drawn to scale and painted with its real ground, and lines for the ways between them. This is that shape, live, exactly as the game server currently knows it.
Reading the world…
Every rectangle is the real footprint of the place — a 60-cell desert is three times the width of a 20-cell arena — painted with its ground as it is right now, one colour per kind of ground, so a place that has been dug or flooded shows it. A room inside another place (the Bazaar inside the Village) is not drawn: you reach it from inside. A dimmed rectangle is somewhere the world knows about but you can't go — it stays on the map, because hiding it would make the shape of the world a lie. The map opens on the main cluster of places; somewhere far off on its own is still there, a zoom out away.
