Terms of Use

Last updated 2026-11-01. These terms cover the Spellgrove game and this website, https://spellgrove.com, provided by CoCreations Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 86 632 857 277), trading as CoCreations ("we"). By playing, you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian agrees to them for you.

The game

Spellgrove is a shared, online world. It is free to play and has no advertisements (see Paying for things below for what may one day cost money), and it is under active development: things change, sometimes every week, and a version of the game may stop working until it is updated. We may take the servers down for maintenance, usually for seconds, occasionally for longer, and we will tell you in the game when we can.

You need an account to play (see the Privacy Policy for what an account holds). You are responsible for what is done with your account and for keeping its password to yourself.

Paying for things

Nothing in Spellgrove is for sale today. Everything the game has — the world, the elements, the spells, a home in the Village — is free, and the game itself will stay free.

Online play may one day need a subscription. Every Spellgrove server has a fixed number of homes, and when the free server's homes are all taken, new players will be able to wait for a place, pay a monthly subscription for a place on a quieter public server, or pay for a private server of their own to share with people they invite. We are saying this now, before any of it exists, so that it is not a surprise later.

A subscription buys room, not power. Nothing you can pay for makes your character stronger or lets you do what other players cannot, and nothing is taken away from a player who pays nothing.

Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play and renew monthly until you cancel them in your store account; you keep what you paid for until the end of the period. Refunds for store purchases are handled by the store under its rules; this does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. A purchase made for a child is a parent's decision: if you are under 18, a parent or guardian makes it, and the stores' own approvals apply. When a private server's subscription ends, that server is paused and kept for 30 days so it can be taken up again, then deleted.

Playing with others

The other players in the world are real people, many of them children. The villagers, who have villager under their names, are run by the game. So:

  • Be kind. No harassment, no bullying, no hate, no threats.
  • No griefing. The game is built around cooperation; deliberately spoiling another player's game — blocking them, wrecking their things, following them to annoy them — is not allowed.
  • Keep names clean. A display name that is rude, that impersonates someone else, or that contains personal information (a surname, a school, a phone number) will be changed or removed. Names for players under 13 are chosen by the game.
  • Do not cheat. No modified clients, no exploiting bugs against other players, no automation. Report a bug instead — we fix them.
  • Do not share anyone's personal information, yours or anyone else's, in the game.

We can warn, suspend or ban an account that breaks these rules, and remove content, without notice where we judge it necessary to protect other players. A ban is not a punishment we enjoy; it is how a small shared world stays safe.

Your account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the game (Account → Delete my account…) or by emailing hello@spellgrove.com. We may delete an account that has been banned, or that a parent asks us to delete. We will not sell your account or its contents to anyone, and neither may you: accounts are personal and cannot be traded.

Ownership

The game, its world, its art, its names, its systems and its code belong to CoCreations Australia Pty Ltd — see the Copyright & IP notice. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to play. What you build inside the game stays in the game: you may screenshot and share it freely, and by building it you let us keep it running in the shared world and show it to other players.

No guarantees

The game is provided as it is, while it is being made. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about availability, accuracy or fitness for a purpose, and we are not liable for loss arising from playing or being unable to play. Nothing here limits rights the law gives you that cannot be excluded — for consumers in Australia, the Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply.

Changes and law

We will change these terms as the game grows; the current version is always at https://spellgrove.com/terms and the date at the top moves when it changes. These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia.
