MVP — definition of done

Where this stands (2026-11-01)

#30 is done (2026-11-01): the realm’s door went live with Release B — the cap counts online people (40), never someone already inside; the Builder’s /building/realm holds the switch, the cap, “new players welcome”, the words and the process rail (48); switching off drains rather than kicks; a refused newcomer is told “The realm is full right now — try again shortly.” and the web shell asks /director/info before its 40 MB download (Try again / Load the game anyway). The richer client words (the realm’s own message, Play offline) ride the Release C store build — 0.4.0, with both stores since the same evening, Release C live on the server with it. The billing alert is Kris’s own — a DigitalOcean Spend Alert at 100% and 200%, in the DO console.

#29 is done (2026-10-30, docs/handoff/servers-and-capacity.md, with the capacity work #2–#6 and private servers #43 in the same plan). /terms now carries “Paying for things”: online play may one day need a subscription, a subscription buys room not power, the stores’ rules govern renewals and refunds, a child’s purchase is a parent’s — live from master the same evening; the store listings’ “no purchases” answers stay true until something is sold.

Dying is done (#27, deliverable #40, 2026-10-24): Kris’s spoken spec, built, tried on his phone over staging, live at 5dd10dd (APK v58) and in 0.2.2, sent to both stores the same evening — Apple’s waiting 0.2.0 cancelled and 0.2.2 submitted in its place, Google Play’s production track updated.

Defined by voice, 2026-10-10: the list below is what “MVP done” means. Each item is one GitHub issue labelled epic:mvp-definition-of-done, so done-state is read off the issues. The first two are half-way: the game is live on Google Play (production since 2026-09-22; from 2026-10-19 the stores’ badges are on spellgrove.com’s front door and /play, the browser build a quiet line under them) and iOS 0.1.0 is waiting for Apple’s review (submitted 2026-10-18; #19 closes when Apple approves). Both trade marks are filed: SPELLGROVE (2706928) and LEGEND OF RAH (2706929), Australian word marks in classes 9 and 41, filed with IP Australia on 2026-10-19 — the receipt and what happens next are workshop/brand/trademark/; #20 stays open until they register. Kris’s own: Apple’s review (the handoff’s status block), the DigitalOcean Spend Alert, the terms wording. Open: are tower spells and life spells really MVP? Kris is not sure — both are flagged. Open issues: epic:mvp-definition-of-done — #19 to #30, twelve; #19 and #20 are now waiting on the store and the examiner rather than on work.

The definition of done

Each bullet is one issue (the idea, what Kris said, notes).

Not in the MVP

No issues for these; they are future, likely captured in other epics, and explicitly outside the definition of done: create-your-own-spells · an open market for trading items (barter-marketplace) · in-app purchases of items and spells · players creating their own areas · armour and clothing.
